DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clerking elective and emergency admissions, and reporting to seniors.

• Managing medical emergencies with the help of senior members of the healthcare team.

• Carefully assessing the patients by taking adequate history and performing relevant examination, and documenting clearly in the patient notes.

• Requesting bloods.

• Liaising with other members of the healthcare staff and other departments.

• Making initial management plans for the patients, under the supervision of my seniors and consultants.

• Participating in ward rounds and being involved in the day-to-day management of patients.

• Presenting cases to my seniors and consultants

• Performing practical procedures under supervision as well as independently.

• Communicating effectively with patients and their relatives and addressing their concerns.

• Carrying out administrative tasks such as rewriting drug charts and preparing operation theatre lists.

• Preparing discharge summaries to be reviewed by senior members of the team.

• Discussing home management with patients and their relatives as well as making follow up arrangements.

• Declaring death and completing death certificates.

• Attending regular departmental meetings and being involved in the process to improve quality of patient care
