  • As an intern, I took admissions, and inducted initial management of the patients on my service under the supervision of my senior resident and attending physician. I took detailed histories, performed appropriately directed physical exams, ordered baseline tests such as CBC, EKG, CXR and documented all patient data in the patient chart, regularly updating it with progress notes. Every morning, my case presentations were followed by comprehensive discussions within the team to reach an appropriate treatment and management plan for the patient. I also placed central lines, arterial lines, peritoneal taps, and performed intubations which were appropriate for my level of training.

Additionally, I worked closely with multiple hospitals to help them arrange volunteers for donations. This experience gave me confidence and instilled management skills in me.

  • Company Overview: SOS Children's Villages is the largest child welfare organization in Pakistan.
  • I visited this orphanage with a group of volunteers during the fourth year of my medical school. I provided my services in the education department of this organization. I talked to the kids, inquired about their problems, and explained to them the importance of education. I also took science classes on weekly basis and distributed white coats among the kids to motivate them toward science and medicine. Furthermore, I raised awareness among my colleagues about the problems faced by those kids and managed to raise $1500 for this special place.
