Research Experience



 Ph.D. Research Fellow (2017-Present) 

Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Karachi, Karachi.

  • Conducted Randomized Controlled Trial to evaluate and compare the efficacy of sequential therapy based on levofloxacin versus triple therapy based on moxifloxacin in treating Helicobacter pylori infection in patients receiving first-line treatment.
  • This study was conducted at Jamal Noor Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Iyad Naeem and Dr. Tanveer Alam.
  • Prior to the commencement of this study, a comprehensive review of the existing literature was conducted. Subsequently, a questionnaire was formulated to assess and evaluate the participants' responses. Following the completion of data collection, the acquired data was subjected to analysis using the statistical software SPSS. The results of the study indicate that the Moxifloxacin-based triple therapy demonstrated favorable outcomes.
  • The research study has been submitted to the Archive of Medical Sciences - Civilization Diseases (Impact Factor 3.7) for publication.


M.Pharm. Research Fellow (2011-2015)

Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Karachi, Karachi.

  • Conducted a study to evaluate the efficacy of Serum Electrolyte Panel Monitoring for dehydrated patients undergoing intravenous fluid (IVF) therapy.
  • This study was carried out at Imam Clinic Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Rabia Yousuf Ismail.
  • Prior to the commencement of this study, a comprehensive review of the existing literature was conducted. Subsequently, a questionnaire was formulated. The patient's age, length of illness, body weight, hydration status, degree of dehydration, and number of episodes of diarrhea and vomiting were recorded. The significant change in the level of sodium, potassium, chloride, and bicarbonate after the initiation of Intravenous fluid therapy replacement therapy was kept as an outcome.
  • Following the completion of data collection, the acquired data was subjected to analysis using the statistical software SPSS. The occurrence of electrolyte imbalances has been documented subsequent to the commencement of intravenous fluid replacement therapy, potentially resulting in significant ramifications.
  • The research study has been submitted to the Pakistan Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Impact Factor 0.8) for publication.


Telephonic follow-up of patients receiving antibiotic prescriptions (August 2007October 2007) 

  • This study was carried out at The Aga Khan Clifton Medical Services Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Ozma Fazal. The impact of a pharmacist's telephone follow-up intervention on clinical outcomes for patients undergoing antibiotic treatment was studied.
  • It was concluded that the pharmacist`s intervention can significantly reduce the number of infectious symptoms or the infection severity score compared to usual care.
  • Presented in the Main Pharmacy Conference Room, The Aga Khan University Hospital, November 10, 2007.


Research and Development Pharmacist (06/2006–01/2007)
