- In 2021, took an initiative to centralize the treasury departments of 10 major companies across the group
- The proposal was approved after several deliberations with senior management, and I got the mandate to establish this department in the holding company of the group
- My achievements and responsibilities were divided mainly into the following four areas.
- Corporate Finance
- Developed and executed the optimal capital structure of a new subsidiary Engro Enfrashare by carefully analysing the business’s future EBITDA, asset size, capital requirements and ratios
- Advised the Mergers and Acquisitions department on the optimal capital structure for new businesses including greenfield and brownfield projects
- Financing
- Successfully negotiated and raised PKR 40 billion (USD 200 million) financing for the group and generated savings of more than PKR 600 million (USD 3 million) which is 150 basis points
- Experienced in developing proposals, performing analysis, negotiating and raising foreign financing, corporate loans, syndications, corporate bonds and hedging with different security structures
- Treasury Investments
- Effectively managed the surplus cash portfolio of Engro Group of PKR 100 billion (USD 500 million) and generated saving of PKR 635 million (USD 3.2 million) which is 60 basis points
- Experienced in developing effective investment portfolio with varied maturities and different treasury instruments like treasury bills, long term government bonds, TFCs, Sukuks, Mutual Funds, Equity and bank deposits
- Stakeholder Management
- Developed new relationships with the central bank which has helped in getting a lot of foreign payment cases approved
- These relationships enabled Engro to open new LCs for raw material, stores & spares and services in the worse economic conditions in Pakistan
