Paediatric Emergency Specialist

• Provide expert emergency care to neonates and paediatric patients in largest public sector hospital in Islamabad, which caters to patients referred from multiple cities. (400 + patients per day)

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, making provisional diagnoses and requesting appropriate investigations
• Interpret test results, ruling out/in differentials and providing targeted medical treatment and management
• Prescribe medication, including analgesia, and perform emergency procedures as needed
• Collaborate with specialties like Neonatology, Infectious Disease, Paediatric Surgery, and Neurosurgery for comprehensive care
• Engage in case discussions with supervising consultants for complex cases
• Deliver immediate, appropriate care to stabilize critically ill or collapsed patients
• Contribute to effective Basic Life Support (BLS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) execution
• Maintain accurate, detailed patient records, including medical history, diagnosis, treatment plans, and prognosis in Electronic medical Records ( EMR)
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring seamless collaboration with healthcare team

Lead a team of healthcare professionals in Pediatric Emergency Department, overseeing delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill or injured children and adolescents

• Completed 4 years of pediatric training, gaining comprehensive understanding of pediatric medicine and acquiring essential clinical skills to deliver high-quality patient care. Developed proficiency in diagnosing and managing various pediatric conditions, and providing compassionate and family-centered care
• Rotated in all paediatric departments led and supervised by senior consultants including in General Paediatrics, ER/OPD, Neonatology, Perinatology, Oncology, PICU, Infectious diseases, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Paediatric surgery among others.
• Provided mentorship and guidance to junior residents and house officers, while demonstrating expertise in patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Presented complex cases to consultants for collaborative management and ensured timely transfer of critically ill patients to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) when necessary
