working as a 2nd year trainee ine the biggest and busiest leading 1800 bedded teaching hospital of the province, having 33 departments,1350 doctors, and handles a daily average of 2500 outpatients and 1500-1800 emergency cases.

As post-graduate Medicine Trainee, my 4 Year Core Medicine Training Program included an extensive exposure to General medicine cases in the GIM, Acute Medical Unit, ER, outdoors as well indoors

  • It consisted of two monthly rotations in different subspecialities
  • Attending rounds as part of multi-disciplinary team, case presentation and follow-up on post round orders
  • preparing patients daily progress reports, and keeping an accurate, clear and to the point documentation in the health management information system (HMIS)
  • Attending OPD clinics with registrars and consultants to see a variety of patients
  • Making handover during shift changes, notes of receiving patients from A&E and other wards
  • Performed rounds twice daily to discuss patient care plan,counsel patients and their families, discussing treatment plans
