I have had multiple opportunities to learn and demonstrate leadership skills at my current job :
During my medical school and post-graduation, I have worked as a member of various teams in clinical as well as non-clinical settings.
This involved working;
* In medical School, as a part of group of students for case presentations and organization of various events.
* In A&E settings as part of a team of internees, trainees and consultants.
* In A&E settings as a part of resuscitation teams.
* As a part of teams to organize various events, getting approvals from administration regarding various non-curricular activities.
I have learned the importance of working in a team, identifying one's roles and tasks, cooperation and coordination with other team members.
During my three years of post-graduation experience, I have actively been participating in teaching activities;
* During my house job/internship/F1, I participated in informal teaching of medical & nursing students during their ward rotations.
* At District Head Quarters Mianwali, I did informal teaching sessions for House Officers (F1), Nursing students and Undertraining Dispensers. . I have done these teaching sessions via power point presentations, bedside teachings, using mannequins and required equipment.
* At current health Center, I deliver weekly lectures to patients and families regarding the clinical presentation, prophylaxis and management of prevalent medical conditions. I also organize training sessions for paramedical staff regarding QI projects, BLS, triage, ATLS guidelines. I have arranged seminars and workshops for these purposes along with using posters and pamphlets.
I am presently finalizing a publication on Follicular Dendritic Cell Sarcoma FDCS( A Case Report). It emphasizes on disease's rarity, varied presentations and need for continued research on definitive treatment.
Although I have not participated in any audits as of yet but I realize that as a doctor it is my responsibility to practice evidence-based medicine, continuously improving clinical skills through training and feedback, and engaging in multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. I am looking forward to participating in audits to monitor and enhance service quality and patient care.
