I am Hammad, currently pursuing veterinary medicine at UVAS Lahore. I excel academically and am an active member of various university societies, including the debating society and the Vet Care Club. I am proficient in veterinary client handling, diagnosis and treatment, management, coordination, finance, public speaking, and marketing. I also showcase my videography skills on Instagram, capturing moments through my lens. Passionate about animal protection, I aspire to influence others and advocate for the well-being of stray animals. Additionally, I seek international exposure and am eager to meet new people and experience different cultures from various commissions around the world.
Here, I work for the control of rabies and was involved in a project named SNIP-150. In this project, I assisted in numerous surgeries of stray cats and dogs to control the population of stray animals and work for the well-being of animals to ensure they lead healthy lives.
Vets Care Club is a non-political, social welfare organisation dedicated to animal welfare and the advancement of the veterinary profession in Pakistan. I am the Head of Medicine for this club. Regarding leadership skills, I am working on the WHO concept, “Rabies: Zero by 30,” to eliminate rabies in Pakistan. I have organised numerous awareness sessions at various schools, colleges, and universities, where I was the speaker.
I have also arranged free rabies vaccination camps in coordination with the Police Animal Rescue Centre, Todd’s Welfare Society, and SA Garden. Each year on World Rabies Day, I vaccinate over 100 dogs and 150 cats, all free of charge. I secure sponsorship from different pharmaceutical companies for these free vaccinations, which has enhanced my communication skills and Influential abilities. Recently, I completed courses on rabies from WHO and the Global Alliance Rabies Control.
Recognising that our farmers often cannot afford to maintain the health of their animals, I have organised over 50 free medical treatment camps in various locations in Punjab and KPK since 2021. For my efforts, I have received over 40 certificates for organising these camps and a shield of appreciation from the university.
In this internship, I assisted experts in Transboundary Animal Diseases like Foot and Mouth Disease and Avian Influenza, as well as in One Health, which focuses on diseases transmitted from animals to humans, such as rabies and brucellosis. I also attended workshops organized by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). Additionally, I worked on Antimicrobial Resistance projects funded by Fleming Fund, UK.
