Dr Ejaz Qadeer, is a dynamic Public Health expert with 25 years of Public health experience and more than a decade of experience in managing small and Large team including Public health programs and tertiary care hospitals. His contribution particularly to TB control Program in Pakistan from 2006 until 2016 has been acknowledged at national and international forums.Dr Qadeer was part of design and implementation of a national program particularly focusing on MDR TB expansion and PPM (Public Private Mix approach). Dr Qadeer has experience of designing, establishing and managing large, multi-year, performance based national health projects on infectious diseases and running hospital services. He is well versed in policy formulation & analysis with significant contributions to the same at national and international levels. Dr Qadeer is experienced in working with international partners and creating mechanisms for focusing, facilitating and streamlining collaborative frameworks. He also holds significant experience in designing Human resource management, Supply chain management , Procurement of large organisations. M&E systems to ensure program/project implementation and quality. Over the years he has developed excellent understanding of the national health system as well as protocols of international organizations such as WHO. The National TB Control Program (NTP) is the constitutional mandated department working for the control of TB and HIV in the country. Falling under the purview of the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation & Coordination, NTP possesses a nationwide network of 16000 labs and over 12000 Basic Management Units for diagnosing and managing TB. Supported certain key milestones were reached by NTP:

· Piloted and launched the management of drug Resistant TB in Pakistan, currently being expanded to 30 sites

· Revised the Hospital DOTS Linkages intervention in 48 tertiary care hospitals and all DHQs across the country. Capitalized on inbuilt HDL modalities to strengthen health system linkages thereby building synergies between NTP and other government programs

· Piloted and launched the management of TB-HIV co-infection in Pakistan, currently being expanded to 38 sites

· Expansion of Childhood TB Management to all 141 District Headquarter Hospitals (DHQs) of the country

· Instituted Public Private Mix interventions for TB control in country. One of the largest such interventions in the world, it focuses on engaging GPs, large private hospitals, NGOs and para-statal hospitals

· Supervision of overall performance of the program in close consultation with Government of Pakistan under Ministry of NHSRC

· Guidelines and modules development especially for DR TB, Childhood TB and National Tuberculosis Guidelines.

· Published many Research papers of international Standards and contributed in Evidence generation for better control in the country

· Responsible for overall implementation of program activity including MDR, HDL, HSS, PPM, TB/HIV , communication advocacy and Research etc

· Supervise timely submission of reports to the Global Fund, WHO and other partners

· Coordinate with Donor agencies such as the Global Fund, USAID, WHO for collaboration and funding support for NTP

· Coordinate with Provincial TB Control Programs for the implementation of DOTS according to the national strategy

· Support Provincial programs for necessary capacity building for the implementation of TB control activities in respective provinces

Principal Investigator of International standard researches such as the disease Prevalence Survey 2010-11 carried out after almost three decades in the country and with largest sample size in world after china and TBREACH Wave 1 and Wave 3 projects focusing on active TB case finding in marginalized population such as slumstrol in tuberculosis context.
