I have practical experience of finishing of leather on the tannery floor. from application of base coat to intermediate coat then top coat and then finally fixing of finishing chemicals. I am capable of writing down finishing recipes and I have a full portfolio of finishes for big shoe companies in South Africa who make shoes for Johnston & Murphy, etc. and around the world. Leather finishing usually requires impregnation to even out the surface and hide defects first hand. The different types of finishes I have recently achieved with the help of finishers at Stahl are listed below:
Sometimes this task can be technical and requires special machinery like reverse roller coater and buffing machine.
I was taught how to finish leather at the Leather School in University of Northampton by expert teachers and lecturers and therefore I have vast knowledge about filler/waxes/binders involved the finishing of leather. Furthermore, I gained a lot of practical experience of finishing bulk lots in the tannery when I started working at Pak Leather Crafts Ltd, I learned a lot from the experienced staff in the company initially and later finished lots on my own.
